Just Another Crush

Born in Miami and at the young age of 17, David Archuleta is already a well known name. Archuleta was the American Idol runner-up in 2007, and since then, has been working on a new album. Recently, he has released his new single, "Crush," from his upcoming debut album and since then it has already toped the charts.

During the first week of its release "Crush" dominated the Billboard chart, "Hot Digital Songs." It was the number one song. It sold over 166,000 downloads. "Crush" also debuted at #2 on the "Hot 100 Singles" chart late in August.
Archuleta looks up to artists like Stevie Wonder, Mariah Carey, Natasha Bedingfield, and Michael Jackson. He tries to infuse his pop selections with a soulful vibe. His new single is about him and girl who are good friends, yet he has a secret crush on the girl. In the song he wonders if she has the same feelings for him and if they could be more than just friends.

My favorite part of the song is when Archuleta says, "Do you ever think, when you're all alone all, that we can be where this thing can go? Am I crazy or falling in love? Is it real or just another crush?"
“Crush” is a beautiful song and many teens can relate to the struggle of having a crush on one of their friends. I'm looking forward to the release of Archuleta's album and if the rest of the songs are like “Crush”, it will be a very successful album.
